Managed Services Solutions
By itself, fixed-line voice is a declining market and carriers are trying to stem the decline by offering more than voice services to their customers. Providing VoIP (voice over IP) should be a stepping stone to streamlining delivery of IP-based applications and services over a single network. Providing innovative IP-based services like basic and enhanced IP Centrex voice services, complete IP network management, threat protection, VPN connectivity and managing them for the customers increases the stickiness factor and as well as ARPU (average revenue per user).
To provide this in a cost-effective fashion, carriers need to be able to leverage a single network to provide all these services. The ability of the access edge equipment to provide a platform on which to build these offerings gains paramount importance. With the access network in different stages of migration, from TDM-based (time division multiplexing) to an IP-based network, the access device should be able to offer tiered IP services and bridge both access pipes.
Carrier Access Adit family of products enables carriers to provide a whole set of managed IP-based services to their SMB customers beyond voice. Carriers can provide multiple levels of managed services from basic voice services, enhanced voice services, managed IP delivery, managed secure IP connectivity via VPN, Intrusion Detection and Protection, firewall protection over the same transport access, be it traditional TDM-based or Ethernet-based. Providing all these services creates a layered revenue stream for carriers. All this can be provided using equipment that has already been deployed at thousands of network points.”
