Carrier Access Introduces the Adit® 3500 Trunk Gateway and Router with Release 1.4

Latest Addition to the Adit 3000 IP Business Gateway Series; Enabling Enterprise Savings for Conversion of Primary Rate Interfaces to New Voice over IP Services

BOULDER, COLORADO - October 17, 2006 - Carrier Access Corporation (NASDAQ: CACS), a leading provider of converged access solutions, announced today the addition of Release 1.4 Adit 3500 VoIP Trunk Gateway / Router to the Adit 3000 product line. Based on network processing and new high capacity DSP technologies, the Adit 3500 provides multi-service IP converged access performance and security at disruptive price points. This product addition expands the Adit 3000 series portfolio with SIP to PRI/CAS trunk termination designed for the cost-effective delivery of converged voice (VoIP) and IP data services to enterprises and government users with existing private branch exchanges (PBXs).

“Adit 3500 offers our customers a competitive edge by implementing carrier-grade reliability in a single-box customer premises solution,” said Larry Hamilton, SVP Converged Access. “End user demand for IP converged access services is generated by reducing their monthly recurring T1 PBX access and usage costs. The Adit 3500 enables these cost savings by the conversion of existing T1 PRI or CAS voice access circuits into dynamic all-IP network access. IP converged access can be either multi-link T1s or new metro Ethernet services. No TDM PBX replacements or VoIP PBX upgrades are necessary. Using the Adit 3500, customers can benefit from the dramatic cost savings of VoIP access services, without any significant investments or sacrifices in service availability or voice quality,” said Hamilton.

Adit 3500 Release 1.4 adds SIP to T1 CAS signaling, industry standard CLI, and enhanced remote alarms from the Adit 3500 via SNMP, Syslog, e-mail alerts, and through a Web interface. In addition to multi-T1 VoIP conversion, standard telephone line interfaces are a supported option.

Adit 3500 Release 1.4 has been developed with features and tested for carrier-grade support with both Broadsoft and Sylantro VoIP application servers. The new product release is being showcased this week at the Broadsoft Connections 2006 Executive Users Conference in Phoenix and the Sylantro Global Summit Executive Users Conference in Las Vegas. Carrier Access is a Platinum Sponsor of these leading VoIP Executive User events.

The Adit 3500 efficiently streamlines multiple elements at the customer premises by integrating routing, security and multi-T1 gateway functions into a single notebook-sized product. Service availability is improved by low power consumption, convection cooling, and an eight hour battery backup option. The platform can also be remotely configured, monitored, and upgraded to maximize VoIP service availability. Unlike more expensive enterprise router solutions, Adit 3500 is purpose-built and tested for the delivery and maintenance of carrier-grade converged IP services.

The Adit 3500 is available immediately in production quantities. List pricing starts at $1,990 for a T1 WAN with a T1 PRI with two Ethernet ports. As with other Adit products, the 3500 includes a 5 year hardware warranty. Comprehensive maintenance and installation package options are available. Adit 3000 products are available through leading communications equipment providers and integrators. Technical and application support is also available directly from Carrier Access Corporation.
